How Do I Join SEIU Healthcare?

Unionizing is easier than you think! BC’s card check certification makes it easier for workers to form a union without employer interference. Here’s how it works:

Good News for BC Workers

Joining A Union Is Easier In BC with Card Check

The Government of British Columbia reinstated card check certification in June 2022 to strengthen workers’ rights and make it easier for employees to unionize without employer pressure.

Win Minimum Wage Boost

As of March 2024, BC’s minimum wage now automatically increases each year based on inflation, ensuring workers’ wages keep up with the rising cost of living, guaranteeing more financial stability for low-wage workers. Minimum wage will reach $17.85 on June 1, 2025.

More Paid Sick Days!

In British Columbia, most workers are entitled to a minimum of five paid sick days a year. This is the highest number of sick days for workers in any province.

Stronger Workers' Comp & Job Security

Beginning January 2024, BC employers must actively assist injured workers in returning to their jobs or finding suitable alternatives. These changes reinforce workers’ rights by ensuring that no one is left behind after a workplace injury.

Pay Transparency = Fair Pay

Since May 2023, BC employers must post salary ranges on job listings and can’t ask about a candidate’s past pay. This game-changing law fights wage gaps and brings up pay equity!

Stronger Rights for Temporary Foreign Workers

In British Columbia, temporary foreign workers are legally protected from unfair practices under the Temporary Foreign Workers Protection Act. This law sets clear standards for their recruitment and employment, ensuring these workers are treated fairly.
